Caring Friends Depression Support Group
Caring Friends provide weekly workshops, mutual support meetings and individual counselling, to help people overcome depression, bipolar, anxiety or stress. The workshops are offered between 1-2pm and are largely based on CBT, from which members gain skills to help them overcome their mental health problem/s. The workshops occur only if most members are interested. Before and after assessments are done for some who wish to know how much they have improved.
The mutual support meetings follow the workshops in which members share experiences and learn from each other in a caring and supportive situation. A strong emphasis is placed on the formation of a mutual support network among members, that functions outside the group and continues on to provide help and support to each other in the community, which is valuable during periods of stress or crises. It is worth noting, that living in close knit rural communities, enhances the degree and quality of support and help that is available and used by members of this type of mutual support network.
Individual help and support, occurs between 10-12am. Members have access to our library of self-help books. They can also receive a range of handouts and worksheets about ways to help overcome their mental health problems.
Office and meeting rooms: Salvation Army Hall, 94 Kent Street, Busselton (near Churchill Park).
Hours: Wednesdays: 10- 12 am individual help; 1-3pm workshops and mutual support.
