Alzheimer’s Australia WA
It is Alzheimer’s Australia WA’s vision to bring together a community of carers with a shared understanding of what it means to care for someone with dementia.
Do you have a family member or close friend who has been diagnosed with dementia? Alzheimer’s Australia WA runs monthly Carer Support Groups for family members or friends who are providing support and care to a person with dementia in the community. Read More.
Loss and Grief two week program
Many of the losses we experience are not clear cut, and there is often no acknowledgement, validation or official recognition of these losses. Caring for a person diagnosed with Dementia can be one of these losses. Our aim is to support people who are experiencing these losses.
Week one of the program will focus on “The Uncertain Journey” and the second “Supporting Strategies for this Unpredictable Journey.” Click here to see flyer with details of the event.
ClanWA
CLAN WA indigo program invites the community to its FREE courses and workshops to learn and talk about mental health and well-being run by CLAN WA and Brain Ambulance. Click here to read more.

SolarisCare
2nd SolarisCare Symposium
For the past 11 years, the SolarisCare Foundation has offered support, information and free complementary therapies to WA cancer patients and their carers. SolarisCare was founded by Perth Haematologist Dr David Joske, to give his cancer patients ‘a soft place to land.’ There are four SolarisCare Cancer Support Centres; two are located in major Perth hospitals, one in Bunbury, and a new centre was opened at the Albany Hospital last year. SolarisCare has over 150 volunteers that deliver around 7000 therapies per year. SolarisCare offers services by qualified personnel in counselling, massage, reflexology, reiki, art therapy and much more.
SolarisCare is holding its Second Inaugural Symposium at Edith Cowan University in Bunbury on September 15 2012. The Symposium will explore key emerging trends in complementary therapies and integrated cancer care, as well as cancer survivorship and communication. Speakers will include key medical personnel in the WA Health Department and leading researchers in psycho-oncology. To find out more, please visit http://www.solariscare.com.au/symposium.php.
